Day 1c Completed
Chips flew all over the place on Day 1c of the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) Black Hawk $360 Regional, and even more so as the night drew to a conclusion and 39 players out of a total 266 entries found their way into Sunday's Day 2. Leading the way was Black Hawk regular Keith Wright, who finished the day with 388,000 after vaulting up from under 100K earlier in the final level of the night.
Wright was in it from the beginning and largely hung around the 100,000-mark through most of the night, dipping below slightly before making his way back up to 388K. He also received help from Steve Baca (357,000), Tan Hoang (346,000), and Marc Rutt (337,000), all of whom had larger stacks before losing sizeable pots just before play finished. Hoang in particular looked to be the clear chip leader with over half a million before losing two pots to Ryan Dodson (334,000), who finished fifth in chips after some run good punctuated a largely uneventful day for the Centennial native.
2019 MSPT Black Hawk Main Event Champion Steve Wilkie (275,000) also found a bag, as did 2019 MSPT Black Hawk Regional Champion Aaron Frei (160,000). Others such as Danny Gonzales, Nader Wahdan, Greg Geller, Phil Gioia, and Teresa Hemingway were less fortunate.
All who have yet to bag will have one more shot at doing so on Saturday's Day 1c. The room will likely be sold out by the time cards go into the air, so players are advised to arrive early to guarantee themselves a seat. Registration begins at 10 a.m. In total, 651 entries have been logged and 93 players have already advanced to Sunday's Day 2.
PokerNews will be back on the floor at noon Saturday to conclude Day 1 coverage and set the stage for Sunday's conclusion.
Two players were lost in the final four hands of the night, and in the meantime, Keith Wright shot up the leader board as several others lost chips to make him the end-of-day chip leader with 388,000.
Stay tuned for a recap of the day's action, as it will be posted shortly.

Play has finished for the night on all five remaining tables and an unofficial 41 players are in the process of bagging their chips. A complete list of chip counts will be provided shortly with a recap of the day's action soon to follow.
Ryan Dodson defended his big blind versus an open from Tan Hoang in the hijack, bringing a flop of . Dodson checked and Hoang continuation-bet 14,000, prompting a check-raise to 60,000 from Dodson. Hoang came back over the top, putting Dodson all in for 127,000 effectively and Dodson called.

Tan Hoang: [tdctc]
Dodson needed to hit a 12 outer to stay alive and did just that on the turn to make a pair of queens. The river came clean and the double was shipped his way at Hoang's expense just before the end of the night.
Then, on the final hand of the night, the two were involved again with Hoang having a bet of 25,000 on a three-heart flop from under the gun and tank-folding to a raise to 100,000 from Dodson, who was in the hijack to earn Dodson even more chips to put into his bag.

Ten minutes now remain in Level 15 and four more hands will be played across the five remaining tables in play before bagging and tagging for the evening.
Andrew Pettenger was down to his last 56,000 after losing a pot for more than 200,000 when his pocket queens got in against ace-jack on a jack-high flop and the player hit trip jacks on the river. He then open-jammed in early position and was looked up by the hijack.
Andrew Pettenger:
Hijack:
Pettenger looked to be cooked, but the flop bailed him out, giving him kings up that remained best through the turn and river to earn the double and get back to 135K.

There was a raise to 13,000 and four calls preflop, two of which were from Samir Al-Hadwan in the small blind and the big blind just behind him.
The flop came and Al-Hadwan shipped in his last 41,000. The big blind was the only one to give him action.
Samir Al-Hadwan:
Big Blind:
Al-Hadwan had shoved with bottom pair, top kicker and was called by a flush draw with two overcards to go with it. A statistical underdog, Al-Hadwan's hand held nonetheless as the turn and river completed the runout to earn him the double and a bit more, giving him some breathing room with a six-figure stack as a result.

One such was Danny Gonzales, who jammed on the button with and ran it into pocket jacks.
