Online Gaming Revenue in New Jersey Increases in February; Poker Decreases

Despite three fewer calendar days, the Internet gaming win in New Jersey increased 8.9 percent from January ($9.5 million) to February ($10.3 million).

As of Feb. 28, 248,241 internet gaming accounts have been creating since Nov., according to the . That is a 25.5 percent increase from Jan. 31.

Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa continues to lead the way, raking in $4,085,444 of the $10.3 million - a five-percent increase from January. Both Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino, operated by Betfair, and the Trump Taj Mahal, operated by Ultimate Gaming, fell from January. Trump Plaza dipped 12 percent to $493,590, while Trump Taj plummeted 46 percent to $587,323.

Caesars more than halved the gap between them and Borgata in February. Borgata pulled in $859,326 more than Caesars in January.

Online casinos were responsible for the increase, not poker. Of the $10.3 million total, casino revenue made up $7.2 million (a 20-percent increase from January). Poker brought in $3.1 million (a 10-percent decrease from January).

The total gaming win from casino hotels and online gaming in New Jersey in February was $209.4 million, a 1.4-percent decrease from 2013.
