Event #27: $1,500 Shootout No-Limit Hold'em
Day 2 Completed
When play started yesterday in Event #27: $1,500 Shootout No-Limit Hold'em, 1,000 players had hopes of winning a prestigious gold bracelet in the only shootout format offered at the World Series of Poker at Bally's and Paris Las Vegas this Summer. Now, after two full days of play, only ten players remain as the final table is set for tomorrow.
Kevin Song was one of the first players to lock his seat up today. He amassed a large stack early on and never ran into trouble until he began heads-up play. Patrick Leonard gave him plenty of trouble, chipping away at Song's chip stack and hanging around for some time.
Eventually, Song finished the job and will return tomorrow to try and do the same. Song seeks his second gold bracelet with only nine players standing in his way.

Each of the remaining players has navigated two rounds of play, winning their table to advance each day. Now, the only thing that stands between them and World Series of Poker glory are the nine other faces they will sit down with tomorrow.
A true comeback story, Timothy McDermott was down to a single 5,000 chip during Day 1 play. Now, he finds himself at the final table. He will look to complete his own "chip and the chair" story tomorrow.
Play will pick back up Wednesday, June 15th at 12 p.m. PDT inside Bally's Event Center. Players will start at 15,000-30,000-30,000 blinds with 15-minute breaks every three levels.
PokerNews will be there to crown the newest gold bracelet winner, so tune in right here tomorrow.

After Jiacong Zhang limped, David Dowdy moved all in with the effective stack of 625,000. Zhang made the snap call.
David Dowdy:
Jiacong Zhang:
Dowdy was behind and would need some help to stay in the tournament. That help did not arrive on the flop. The turn didn't change much, but Dowdy still had outs. He hit one of those outs in the form of the river, which counterfeited Zhang's hand, and Dowdy took the pot with the better kicker. This gave the two relatively even stacks, and play continued with Zhang visibly upset.
A few hands later, David Dowdy moved all in with the big stack of 1,500,000. Jiacong Zhang took a moment to prepare his phone to record the runout before making the call.

David Dowdy:
Dowdy was once again behind. The flop didn't change much, but the on the turn gave Dowdy the better pair. The river completed the board. Dowdy scooped the pot, punching the tenth and final ticket to Day 3's final table. The two players shook hands following the conclusion of their heads-up play.

Michael Zulker wasted little time before shoving from the small blind with 880,000. Timothy McDermott, the table's chip leader, made the call.
Michael Zulker:
Timothy McDermott:
Zulker was ahead, but that changed quickly when the flop gave McDermott top pair. The turn and river changed nothing, and McDermott took the pot with top pair. Zulker was sent to the rail, as McDermott began heads-up play with Dalibor Dula.

Action picked up with cards on their backs preflop and both Michael Simhai and Ryan Ramsdell all in.
Michael Simhai:
Ryan Ramsdell:
"It had to happen like this," said Simhai.
Both Simhai and Ramsdell had been battling back and forth for some time., Simhai barely had Ramsdell covered.
The flop looked safe for Ramsdell when the came out. The was a dagger, though. The river sealed the deal, giving Simhai the better full house and the winner.
