One of the tournaments starting today is Event #26: $1,000 Pot-Limit Omaha. Last year, Tyler Groth took down this tournament for $179,126 by besting a field of 1,058 players. The year before it was none other than Sam Soverel who took the bracelet.
Cards will be in the air at 11 a.m. and play will conclude at the end of Level 10. Late registration for the tournament is open for the first six levels of play and will close at approximately 6:55 p.m. Players will start with 100 big blinds as the starting stack for the tournament is 5,000 and the blinds for the first level are 25/50.

The tournament director has now instructed the dealers to shuffle up and start pitching the cards.
The event has been underway for just over 10 minutes and we've already heard the dealers yell out "seat open" more than once.
With the tournament being a freezeout, we won't be seeing any of these players who bust out return to the tournament.
The players are seated in the Brasilia room and the field is slowly growing and growing. Bracelet winner Marcel Vonk sat down early today and has already managed to double up in the first 20 minutes of Level 1.

After two people limped, Sasha Liu raised to 250 from the button. The under-the-gun and early position limpers made the call and the flop came .
Action checked to Liu who bet 600 and was called by only the early position opponent. The turn fell the and action checked to Liu who bet 1,600. Her opponent then raised pot, and Liu moved all in. Her opponent called and they both tabled their hands, Liu showing for the nut straight and her opponent tabling for a flopped set.
The river came a brick and Liu secured a double-up in the first 20 minutes of play on Day 1.

The player under the gun limped and saw the one-seat pot it to 225. Both players in the blinds called and the UTG player called as well.
The flop was and it checked to the preflop raiser. He made it 400 and the next player in the hand raised it to 1,000. Sasha Liu called from the big blind and the player who bet 400 called as well.
Liu took over the betting lead on the turn and bet out pot to put her opponents all in. One player called.

The board read with about 6,000 in the middle, and Justin Young moved all in for enough to cover his opponent's remaining 1,750.
His opponent thought for a few moments. "There is too much in the middle," he said and made the call. The players revealed their hands, Young showed for two pair with a flush draw and his opponent tabled for a pair of eights with a straight draw.
The fell on the river and Young moved to over double his original starting stack.
