Day 2 Completed
From 115 players left out of the initial 360 entrants, the goal was to reach the final table on Day 2 of the 2023 Unibet Open Bucharest Main Event at the JW Marriott Bucharest Grand Hotel. It was a close call as Jozsef Hegyi was eliminated on the last hand of the day, but we now have the names of the nine finalists of the tournament.
Among the finalists, a local player ended Day 2 in first place as Romania's Eduard Norel bagged the chip lead with 1,970,000 chips. After he burst the bubble earlier in the day, he secured a big double up during the last hands of the night to take the lead and maintained it until the end.
Similar situation for Max Broens, who doubled up during the last level and burst the final table bubble. Thanks to these pots, he joined the top positions and concluded the day with 1,760,000 chips. It is just a blind more compared to Dragos Anton (1,725,000), who held 2,200,000 chips at 11 left. But he lost a bit and will be third in chips at the beginning of the final table.

Dwayne Sluis will also be back with more than one million chips (1,425,000 chips), as well as the Day 1s chipleader, Robert Burlacu (1,260,000). A few blinds behind, with approximately 35 bigs, Ivan Alin Constantin (920,000) and Sorin Flutur (855,000) will still have room to maneuver too.
However, things will be a bit harder for Bjorn Samuelsson and his 470,000 chips, and for Bart Van Dijk, who'll be back with 310,000 chips. But at least, he'll be on the final table, as he only had three blinds left after Norel doubled through him during the last 60 minutes.
Tomorrow, Sunday, December 3, the nine remaining players will be back for the 2023 Unibet Open Bucharest Main Event Final Table. They are guaranteed to win €6,770, but they are all looking for the €65,830 first-place prize.
To reach this top spot, they'll have to take all the chips, starting on Level 22 with the blinds set at 10,000/25,000/25,000. Levels will be one-hour long at the beginning of the final table, then decrease after some eliminations.

With Jozsef Hegyi's elimination on the last hand of the day, nine players have qualified tonight and will be back tomorrow for the final table.
Stay tuned for a full recap of the day's action that will soon follow.
Level 21 was coming to an end, so the tournament director announced that the last hand of the day was going to be delt.
But as soon as the announcement was made, Jozsef Hegyi jammed for 355,000 from the hijack. Then in the small blind, Max Broens reshoved, and the big blind folded.
Jozsef Hegyi: 8♣8♠
Max Broens: A♠Q♦
Hegyi was on his way to double up on the last hand. But after the flop 2♣J♣4♥ and the turn 7♥, the A♥ landed on the river to give top pair to Broens.
Eliminated in 10th place, Hegyi will miss the final table tomorrow. But he still wins €5,690.

The action is very slow now that only one more player needs to be eliminated.
However, the final table bubble almost burst after Bart Van Dijk opened from under the gun, and was called by the button and the small blind. In the big blind, Eduard Norel squeezed to 235,000, then Van Dijk four-bet all in. The button and the small blind fold, but Norel called, being the one at risk for 950,000.
Eduard Norel: J♥J♦
Bart Van Dijk: K♦10♦
Norel's jacks held on A♠4♠7♥Q♣4♦, so he secured a big double up.
Down to 65,000 chips, Van Dijk shoved on the next hand and doubled up (Q♦5♥>Q♠7♦ on 3♦Q♣A♠5♣2♥).

In a blind versus blind situation, Bjorn Samuelsson in the small blind found himself at risk for 280,000 against Eduard Norel in the big blind.
Bjorn Samuelsson: Q♣Q♥
Eduard Norel: A♦7♠
It was an easy win for Samuelsson, as the board of 4♥3♥5♥6♦10♥ didn't change anything. He doubled up and has now 600,000 chips.

Two all in and call situations occurred at the same time. On the secondary table, Henry Broens was all in for a little bit more than 600,000 chips on the button against Dragos Anton to his right.
Henry Broens: K♦K♥
Dragos Anton: Q♥Q♦
The dealer fanned a board of 4♥5♥5♠3♥4♠, and Broens secured a double up.
But on the feature table, Gianmarco Kovari wasn't as lucky as Broens as he was seen walking away. Down to 30,000, he shoved from the cutoff after Dwayne Sluis opened from under the gun.
Gianmarco Kovari: 8♦7♦
Dwayne Sluis: A♦J♦
The dealer fanned a board of K♦3♥6♦6♠10♠, which was no help for Kovari who was eliminated in 11th place for €5,010.
One more elimination is now needed to reach the final table and end the day.

Once again, Marius Pertea and Dragos Anton's cards went on their backs. This time, Pertea was at risk for 640,000 from the cutoff, against Anton in middle position.
Marius Pertea: A♠A♥
Dragos Anton: 7♠7♣
Pertea was on his way to take this one again. But Anton hit a set on the flop 4♠3♣7♥ to take the lead. The J♠ came on the turn, followed by the 8♥ on the river, so Pertea was eliminated in 12th place.
Thanks to this pot, Anton has now more than 2,000,000 chips.
