Event #1: $25,000 Short Deck Hold’em
Day 1 Completed
After just over 12 hours on Day 1 of the Super High Roller Bowl Europe Event #1: $25,000 Short Deck, seven players survived to make it through. All seven players have secured a cash of at least $48,000 but will all have their sights set on the top prize of $408,000 which would give them a nice start to the festival.
Twenty-six unique players rocked up to play and with 22 reentries, a total prize pool of $1,200,000 was created by the 48 entries. Seven of them would cash and right now, Stephen Chidwick is sitting in pole position with 3,865,000 in chips. Chidwick scored a huge double through Chris Brewer during the bubble when he picked up pocket aces and called the shove of Brewer.
Brewer finds himself in second place in the chip counts and is joined by the one and only Phil Ivey on the podium. Completing the unofficial final table on Tuesday, August 24 are Mikita Badziakouski, Ihor Shkliaruk, Xia Jiang He, and Erik Seidel.

The action was fast-paced from the start with several people using multiple reloads and bullets to try and earn a spot at that final table but fell at numerous hurdles. Players like Paul Phua, Richard Yong, Ali Imsirovic, Chi Zhang, Danny Tang, Seth Davies, Cary Katz, and even Tony G came and left with empty hands.
Things finally started slowing down when there were 12 players left but Hing Yang Chow ended up as the bubble boy when he first doubled up He and then lost his last few chips to Shrliaruk. With 22 minutes left in the level, the players were combined onto one table and continued play for a bit but not much much changed in the counts.
The seven players will return at 12:45 p.m. local time to get themselves prepared for the final stage and play will resume at 1 p.m. The PokerGO live stream will be live from around 2 p.m. and the PokerNews live reporting team will be on hand to report on a similar delay as the stream.
