The first day of the $25,000 High Roller Event here at the 2010 PokerStars.net Caribbean Adventure has wrapped up. The unofficial count had the entrants at 84. It looks to be just over 50 of them remaining in the field with Team PokerStars Pro Lex Veldhuis leading the pack. He finished up with 219,500 while Dario Minieri is hot on his heels with 218,600 at day's end.

The field is almost double that of last year's, which saw 48 runners turn out and Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier take home the title to the tune of $433,500. Grospellier still remains, but is severely short. He bagged up 7,200 to keep his title defense alive.

Other members of Team PokerStars Pro still left in the field are Chad Brown, William Thorson and Daniel Negreanu. There's a few other team members left that all have one thing in common: winning the WSOP Main Event. Those players include Greg Raymer, Peter Eastgate and current champion Joe Cada.

Play will resume tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. local time. Hopefully by then we should have all the official numbers on the field size and prizepool.

Baron Busts Vedes

Tommy Vedes has been sent to the rail by Isaac Baron.

All in preflop holding {A-Clubs}{8-Clubs}, Vedes was trailing Baron's {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}. The flop came down {Q-Clubs}{5-Spades}{2-Clubs} as Vedes picked up a flush draw, but the {9-Hearts} turn and {3-Diamonds} river were no help to Vedes, out near the end of day one.

Baron is up to 140,000.

Play Winding Down

The clock has stopped with ten minutes remaining in the level. Six more hands will be played and then the players will bag and tag.

Raymer Rivers a Double Up

Greg Raymer

All in for his remaining 21,800, Greg Raymer needed help as his {K-Spades}{8-Clubs} was way behind his opponent's {9-Spades}{8-Diamonds} on a {9-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{8-Hearts} flop.

The {4-Clubs} turn card was no help to Raymer, but the {K-Diamonds} river card certainly was, boosting his stack to 47,000.

Sointula Eliminated

Jani Sointula was all in preflop with {A-Diamonds} {4-Spades} and called by James Calderaro's {A-Clubs} {3-Clubs}. The board ran out {J-Clubs} {10-Hearts} {3-Spades} {Q-Diamonds} {A-Hearts} to give Calderaro two pair and send Sointula to the rail.

Calderaro now has 140,000 chips.

Brown Doubles Through Matusow

Chad Brown was all in preflop for about 35,000 and Mike "The Mouth" Matusow made the call. Brown held {A-Spades} {K-Hearts} and Matusow two tens.

If it wasn't for the ace on the turn, Brown would be out of here as the board ran out {9-Hearts} {5-Spades} {3-Diamonds} {A-Hearts} {8-Diamonds}. Brown doubled to nearly 80,000 and Matusow slipped to 71,000.
