Day 1c Completed
The third and final flight of the 2019 Colorado Poker Championship $1,100 Main Event is officially in the books after 10 full hours of play on Saturday night. The day started with 160 entries, bringing the three-day total to 360, and saw 29 players remaining when it was time to put chips in bags.
Leading the way are Jay Jesse (425,000) and Tanner Stiverson (412,000). Jesse was seen with a stack in the 200,000s during the last level of the night and continued to chip up from there until play finished. Stiverson had a large stack throughout the day, chipping up to nearly three starting stacks shortly after the second break. He continued to build as the day went on, consistently trending up towards his resting total for the evening. The two find themselves in second- and third place, respectively in the combined chip counts behind Wendy Freedman (597,500)
Rounding out the top five in chips are Bobby Sanoubane (336,500), Patrick Suzuki (294,000), and Johnathan Dempsey (241,500). Other notable players to advance include Nick Pupillo (147,000), Ruth Graham (140,500), and defending champion Mike Itoafa (85,000).
There were plenty who were not fortunate enough to advance throughout one or more heats of play, such as Tim West, Chris Tryba, Sammy Aweida, Ryan Dodson, and Rich Dixon.
In total, 61 players will return for Day 2 on Sunday at 11 a.m. local time. Blinds will resume at the beginning of Level 15, with blinds of 1,500/3,000 and a 3,000 big-blind ante. All levels will be one hour in length for the day, with play scheduled to continue until a final table of nine is reached.
Thirty-six will make it into the money along the way, with a first-level payout of $2,401. The eventual champion will take home $73,621 for his or her efforts. Come back to PokerNews to see which nine remain after another full day of battle on the felt.

The remaining 29 players have finished play across the four tables left in play are in the process of bagging up their chips for Day 2, which will be Sunday at 11 a.m.
Stay tuned for complete chip counts and a recap of the day's action.
As David Kim was all in on an adjacent table for 54,100 with an opponent in the tank, action was building on Table 9.
Randy Needens was all in for 79,500 into a pot of around 60,000 from the big blind. He was heads up on the turn with a board of and action was on his opponent, Ryan Simoneau, who was under the gun. (While Simoneau was in the tank, Kim's opponent folded to the preflop decision and he took down the pot.)
Simoneau mulled over his decision, going between wanting to call and telling himself it could be the worst call he could make. Eventually, he called.
Randy Needens:
"It was the worst call," said Simoneau as he turned up .
The river came and Needens secured the double on the penultimate hand of the night.

"Finish the hand you're on; five more hands," were the official instructions told to the remaining four tables of play. Upon the completion of those hands, all remaining players will bag and tag their chips to return for Sunday's Day 2.
An all in and a call were heard on a flop of . There was 23,500 in the pot prior to action and Stephen Zipprich had Ryan Simoneau at risk for his tournament life from the hijack and button, respectively.
Stephen Zipprich:
Ryan Simoneau:
Simoneau had top pair with a gutshot straight draw needed to hold against the open-ended straight draw outs as well as the three eights in the deck. The turn and river came to ensure the double, resulting in Simoneau finding himself back over 150,000 nearing the end of play for the evening.
Steve Wilkie saw action back on him in the cutoff after he had three-bet an open from Corey Zedo to 20,000. Zedo came over the top, putting Wilkie at risk for his tournament life. Wilkie made the call.
Steve Wilkie:
Corey Zedo:
Wilkie found himself in a coin flip situation for his tournament life. The flop was as interesting as it could have been, coming to give Wilkie a set and Zedo the nut flush draw. The turn came and the river came shortly behind it, giving Wilkie a full house and securing him the double.
