R$25,000 Millions Championship
Day 1a Completed
It was the opening flight of the 2024 BSOP R$25,000 Millions Championship in what turned out to be busier than expected for the tournament staff in Sao Paulo, Brazil. A total of 187 entries were recorded for Day 1a and the field was dwindled down to just 69 players when the lights were turned out. Gabriel Nobrega emerged as the chip leader with a healthy stack of 738,000 chips as he hopes to capture his third BSOP title of the year.
Nobrega is well-known in the Brazilian poker community, having earned his first live poker title back in 2018. From then, it's been a flurry of results for the Sao Paulo native who loves playing in his hometown. Nobrega has amassed over $600,000 in live earnings including the BSOP Main Event from earlier this year where he pocketed over $144,000. He also took down the Deepstack event two days earlier this summer as he appears to be running on a wealth of confidence.

It was over 12 hours ago that the action got underway with 35 players taking their seats for the shuffle-up and deal announcement. The field quickly grew over the course of the day, much to the delight of tournament staff. A promising R$10,000,000 guaranteed prizepool is sure to hit over the next two starting flights and could quite potentially double that.
There were quite a few notable Brazilian players who took to the felt throughout the day including Alexandre Mantovani, Pedro Neves, and Pablo Brito Silva. However, none of them were able to make it through to Day 2 as of yet. Some other notables that were in the Day 1a field that failed to advance included PokerStars ambassador Parker Talbot, Joao Vieira, Santiago Plante, and Richard Dubini.
There will be a few notables and big stacks to keep an eye on moving forward including Dennys Ramos (437,000), Rafael Furtanello (421,000), and Brazilian high-stakes player Joao Simao (213,000). These players all have a long resume of accomplishments in the poker world and will be some of the favorites heading into the latter stages of the tournament.
The second of three starting flights is on the schedule for tomorrow with another 12 hours of poker slated to take place over 10 levels. As always, the PokerNews team will be on the tournament floor to bring you all of the live updates throughout the day .

The action has completed at each table and the players are finishing bagging their chips. A full list of chip counts along with a recap of the day's action will be posted shortly.
Each table will play three more hands before the bagging and tagging process begins. All players who make it through the night will return for Day 2 on November 22.
There was a raise to 10,000 in middle position and Daniel Camel flat-called on the button. The flop fell K♥4♥2♠ and Camel was faced with a bet of 8,000 which he called.
The 2♣ paired the board on the turn and the action slowed as both players checked. The 10♥ completed the board and it was checked to Camel again. This time, he tossed in a bet of 25,500.
This sent his opponent deep into the tank and after 90 seconds, Camel left his stoic pose for a drink of beer. Another two time banks later, his opponent finally folded and Camel flashed his A♠8♠ for just ace-high.

The action folded around to the blinds who limped in to see a flop of K♣10♣4♠. It was innocent enough as both players checked to the 9♠ on the turn.
The small blind checked again and Gabriel Nobrega tossed in a bet of 10,000 from the big blind. The small blind check-raised to 30,000 and Nobrega called.
The 9♥ paired the board on the river and the small blind splashed in a bet of 70,000. Nobrega snapped him off and his opponent showed Q♠2♠ for a missed combo draw. Nobrega held K♥6♥ for two pair and now has the largest stack in the room in the final level.

Stetson Fraiha opened to 11,000 from under the gun and Joao Fera just called on the button. They went heads-up to a flop of 8♥8♦6♠ and Fraiha continued with a bet of 10,000. Fera raised to 33,000 and Fraiha called.
The turn was the 10♥ and Fraiha started with a check this time. Fera counted out a bet of 38,000 and Fraiha quickly moved all in as the big stack. Fera called off his stack of around 125,000 and the cards were on their backs.
Joao Fera: J♥J♦
Stetson Fraiha: A♥A♦
Fraiha held the overwhelming lead with his pair of aces and the 7♠ on the river changed nothing. Fera was bounced from the tournament while Fraiha sits among the leaders.

Rafael Furlanetto raised to 9,000 in early position and Antonio Santichio defended his big blind. The flop fell K♠4♠2♦ and Santichio led out with a bet of 8,000. Furlanetto called and the 9♣ rolled off on the turn.
Santichio kept firing with a bet of 26,000 on the turn and Furlanetto kept calling. The river was the 3♠ and Santichio flicked in a bet of 50,000. Furlanetto quickly called and Santichio was first to show his A♥2♥ for a pair of deuces. Furlanetto had that beat with A♠K♥ for a pair of kings as he continues to climb the ranks.
